Apple entered this new market of smartwatch and have taken the market by storm. Apple as a company doesn't like the term "smartwatch" and will refer to the watch as "Apple Watch". Tim Cook the CEO of Apple announced Apple Watch in the September 2014 Keynote speech of Apple at Cupertino. 

I feel that people need to understand that the Apple Watch is not only a new type of product for Apple, but the first real"cross-over watch" that wades in both the waters of technology and horology.
